The 4444 is based upon the same stock as the 4410, but adds twists for an even more sophisticated stair part. The twist newel is a very attractive design that will help a stairway show the craftsmanship that a custom home is designed to show.
The 4400 series of newels is our personal favorite. Our wood newels are turned on precision lathes and sanded smooth while still rotating to virtually eliminate the marks that are caused by tooling. The 4444 is for a stairs with an over the post handrail system. It is designed for a stair fitting to attach to the top of the pin on the newel. The 4444 newel with an urn shape or hourglass is a classic design at home in any stairway. Our 4444 newel is a key portion of a banister system that has wrought iron balusters or wood balusters that are painted, or finished from red oak, brazilian cherry, white oak, hickory, American cherry or other custom species. The 4444 newel can be mounted on a stair tread or on the landing tread. The 4444 newel will meet most stairway code requirements, but check with your local code enforcement official to be certain. The 4444 in brazilian cherry has been very poplar for homes with brazilian cherry floors and wrought iron balusters in coppervein and satin black. Red oak stair parts are an all time classic that will never fade.The newel is the strength of the stair parts system. A stair installer will invest more time in setting strong newels than any other stairpart. Many stair parts installers attach wood newels to the flooring system by cutting out a section of subfloor and notching the newel down and into the joists to create a strong stair system. The newel can o be firmly attached to the stair tread, landing tread or floor with stair hardware such as our sure-tite or the keylock system. Handrail can then be attached either with an over the post system for pin top newels or to the side of the post with a post to post newel system. We suggest wood glue and proper fasteners and clamping pressure for a strong stairway design.Brazilian cherry stair parts are increasing in demand and our availability is increasing.
