8071 False Treads
False treads have a 1/2" thick body with a full 1" thick nosing. The false treads are perfect for stairs where the construction treads are already secured and carpet is going to be run through the middle of the stairway. Cove moulding and risers should be ordered separately. The straight false tread is 6" wide. The right hand and left hand are 6 1/2" wide. The depth is 11 1/4". False treads are designed to be cut and trimmed to fit by installers on the job site. Since the body of the tread is 1/2" thick, it should match well to the thickness of the carpet and pad. The structure under the false tread should be secure. Dimensional lumber such as 2 x 10's, 2 x 12'x, or 2 x 4's form a good base for false treads. Construction adhesive and screws are recommend for attaching the false treads. The returns on the false treads are rounded for the proper appearance.
