Stair Supplies offers intermediate cable railing posts to help reduce deflection between structural wood posts. You need structural wood posts every 8 feet to ensure your system has the strength it needs (if your wood posts are spaced further than 8ft you need to add additional structural posts before using this product). Intermediate posts ONLY assist in reducing cable deflection, they provide no structural support. Intermediate posts can NOT be used with Stair Supplies 2″ Metal Posts.
This particular intermediate posts is 3/4″ square x 40 1/2″ tall made of Aluminum for ease of cutting on the job site. It comes pre-drilled with 12 5/16″ holes at our standard 3 1/8″ cable spacing. The bottom plate of the post can easily be removed so that the post can be cut down from the bottom on the job site to match the height of your existing handrail.
For level applications select the “A” configuration. For stair applications select the “S” (undrilled) version that is designed to be cut down & drilled on the job site. Because the post is made of aluminum both of these steps can be done quickly and easily.
what is the height of this post? is it custom?
If we use the through fittings which would require us to offset the holes on the corner posts by 1/2″, will this create a problem with using the pre-drilled posts since we can only trim down on one end to get to our 36″ height?
How is the top plate attached to the post? Is the 3.125 cable spacing dimension “center-to-center?
