Warranty

Iron Baluster, LLC dba StairSupplies (“StairSupplies”) reserves the right to either refund, repair, or replace the product under warranty. Warranties will cover the cost of the product, but will not cover the cost of removal or installation unless your order meets the requirements of StairSupplies’ Certified Installation warranty. (See below for more information) Any labor warranty is subject to prior review and approval by StairSupplies. Any unaffected parts are not covered. Project address/location and exterior application of StairSupplies products must be disclosed at the time of purchase and the proper materials must be selected at that time. See below for information on submitting a warranty claim.

 

Wood Products Warranty Overview

Interior Wood Products

StairSupplies provides a 5-year warranty on the structural integrity of in-house finished wood products installed in interior applications and a 1 year warranty on the structural integrity of unfinished wood products when customer finishes and seals within 10 days of receipt.  Customer must submit photo evidence within 10 days. 

Exterior Wood Products

StairSupplies provides a 1-year warranty on exterior wood products only when they are manufactured with ipe or thermally modified wood. Thermally modified wood must be sealed regularly to maintain its 1 year warranty. This warranty ensures that these products will remain structurally sound under normal use.

Wood is a natural material and reacts to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. This warranty excludes any claims against cracking, splitting, checking, warping, cupping, and shrinkage  or expansion due to improper storage or maintenance. (See policies for storage and maintenance details) Natural aging and  wear and tear from normal use are not covered under this warranty. For exterior applications, this warranty excludes surface checking of the face grain and checking of the end grain. This checking does not affect the structural integrity of the product.

Wood can be UV reactive and/or photosensitive. As a result, StairSupplies does not provide a warranty for color retention or fading, color match, or finish performance on wood products.

 

10 year Structural Metal Products Warranty

StairSupplies warrants that all metal products will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use applications for a period of 10-years from the original products ship date. Some metal products are excluded from this warranty in applications within 5 miles of the coast. See Coastal Products Warranty section.

Metal Finish Warranty

5 year 2205 Brushed Stainless Steel Finish 

A 2205 stainless steel brushed finish is warrantied for 5 years. The warranty covers the finish of the steel and protects against corrosion. For the purposes of this warranty, corrosion is defined as a structural and permanent defect in the metal that compromises its integrity. Surface-level oxidation, staining, discoloration, or contamination that can be removed through cleaning or maintenance is not considered corrosion and is excluded from coverage. Regular use of Marine 31 Polish and Sealant is required to maintain warranty.

5 year Premium Finish

Metal products coated with StairSupplies’s Premium super durable rated powder coats carry a 5 year finish warranty.

This warranty covers normal use and will not include damage caused by impact upon the finish from objects. This warranty covers fading, adhesion and corrosion caused by finish failure. Corrosion is defined as a structural and permanent defect in the metal. For products used in an exterior application within 5 miles of salt water, see Coastal Products Warranty.

Premium powder coats include Jet Black, Bright White, Burnished Bronze, Iron Oxide, Textured Black, Deep Pewter, Light Bronze, Warm Stone, Limestone Buff, Spruce Green, Desert Sand, Burnished Gold, Pistachio Green, Midnight Blue, Alabaster White, Textured Plaster, Gray Mist, Polished Silver, and Graphite Gray.

1 year Standard Powder Coat Finish

Metal products coated with Standard super durable rated powder coats carry a 1 year finish warranty. This warranty covers normal use and will not include damage caused by impact upon the finish from objects. For products used in an exterior application within 5 miles of salt water, see Coastal Products Warranty.

Standard powder coats include Standard Black, Standard White, Standard Silver, and Standard Bright Brass in StairSupplies’s powder coat offering.

1 year Exterior / 5 year Interior 304 Brushed Stainless Steel Finish Warranty

A 304 stainless steel brushed finish is warrantied for 1 year for exterior projects and up to 5 years for interior projects. Coastal Products Warranty

Statements in this Coastal Products Warranty section supersede all other warranty claims in this document.

StairSupplies offers a 10-year structural warranty and a 5-year brushed stainless and premium powder coat finish warranty for projects installed within five (5) miles of the coast. This warranty covers fading, adhesion, and corrosion. For the purposes of this warranty, corrosion is defined as a structural and permanent defect in the metal that compromises its integrity. Surface-level oxidation, staining, discoloration, or contamination that can be removed through cleaning or maintenance is not considered corrosion and is excluded from coverage.

Exclusions

The following are specifically excluded from coverage under this Coastal Products Warranty:

  • Railing products made from mild steel or 304 stainless steel
  • Metal products finished with a StairSupplies Standard powder coat
  • Aluminum posts when paired with stainless steel cable
  • Aluminum posts with stainless rods without isolation hardware installed*
  • Handrails that have been cut and not treated in accordance with StairSupplies’ instructions
  • Stringer products manufactured from mild steel

These exclusions apply to all products installed within five (5) miles of the coast or other saltwater environments, as defined by StairSupplies.

*For railing products on Long Island, NY, aluminum posts with any infill within 1 mile of the coast are excluded from this warranty. Only 2205 stainless steel posts are warranted within 1 mile of the coast.

 

Glass

StairSupplies warrants your glass will be delivered without chips, scratches or damage.

Laminated glass will be free from delamination for a period of five (5) years from the original product’s ship date.

Hydrophobic coating on glass panels is warranted to provide an easy-to-clean surface for a period of 10 years from the original product’s ship date.

 

Certified Installation Warranty

StairSupplies offers a 2-year labor and workmanship warranty for any project that includes installation purchased through StairSupplies. All labor and workmanship warranty claims are subject to prior approval by StairSupplies. If you did not purchase installation through StairSupplies, StairSupplies will not cover the cost of removal, installation, or any other incurred costs.

 

LEDs

LED components have a 1 year warranty.

 

General Exclusions

Damage from exposure to fire, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, acts of God, or any other natural disasters is excluded. Damage caused by neglect, accidents, lack of, or improper cleaning and maintenance, or any use beyond the intended purpose of the product is also excluded from this warranty. In the event a customer owes any unpaid balance to StairSupplies, StairSupplies reserves the right to disclaim all warranty coverage.
StairSupplies does not offer a warranty on iron balusters.

 

Filing a Warranty Claim

In the event of a product warranty claim, email [email protected]. Include your original order number, a brief description of the issue, and pictures of the issue. StairSupplies may require the old part back for testing, photos or video of the issue, or a site visit from a StairSupplies team member. All solutions and replacements are at the discretion of StairSupplies. Warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Warranty timeline starts the day the order is shipped from our production facilities.
