Commercial Cable Railing in a Texas Grocery Store

Ever thought of using posts meant for glass to install a sheet of metal poked with holes? Check out how this grocery store in College Station, Tex., did just that. This cable railing with black powder-coated posts fits the country atmosphere of the Brookshire Brothers chain, but adds a modern twist. One of the more interesting parts of this project is how they used clips – which are normally used on our glass railings – to hold up the perforated metal paneling on their balcony. Using the glass clips allowed the space to stay free of clunky hardware and keep the unique paneling as the star.

The stair railing and the exterior railing are great examples of a commercial cable application paired with Ipe handrail. Ipe is one of our most durable wooden handrails. Because of the strict guidelines in place for public buildings, the client also used our Stainless-Steel Handrail which you can see is set lower on the railing.

Since the client needed to install on a concrete surface, we offered a post that could work with that material. They ordered Special Application posts, which come with hardware specific for concrete application.
