Newels are manufactured one at a time on a precision Germany made lathe that is computer controlled for repeatable precision. Each newel is precision milled and hand sanded for your home. Newels / Newel posts are upright posts forming the backbone of your balustrade. Newel posts anchor the staircase railing ensuring that the staircase is durable and sturdy. Generally, one newel called a starting newel is placed at the bottom of stairs. A second newel is placed at the top of stairs called landing newel. Newels placed at landings where the handrail changes directions are called intermediate newels.

Newels are available in a multitude of styles and over 12+ wood species. There are two types of newels; turned or box. Turned newels are made of solid wood, which is turned or milled into a decorative profile. Box newels are made from hollow wooden boxes with a wooden cap molded at top.
