Product Description

Enjoy a piece of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in your own home with our 4110 ‘Extreme’ Box Newel. This box newel was specifically designed for one of the TV show’s home renovations, and offers several special features. At 4 ¾” square and 54” tall, this newel is precisely crafted to ensure clean lines and strong construction. The detailing of the two recessed squares and large recessed panel give the ‘Extreme’ Box Newel a high-end, craftsman-style presence. And when the material quality is as amazing as the craftsmanship, you can’t go wrong! Choose from a selection of our fine wood species and stains to complete your newel design.

To achieve the entire look from the “Extreme Home Makeover” project, consider pairing your ‘Extreme’ Box Newel with the ‘3109 Extreme’ Wood Balusters and 6100 ‘Extreme’ Handrail.

Key Features

  • Craftsman Style
  • Recessed Details
  • Stain-Grade
  • Easy Install

Mounting System

To install your 4110 ‘Extreme’ Box Newel, you will need the Box Newel Mounting Kit. Follow our Installation Video to ensure a secure fit. The ‘Extreme’ Box Newel may be installed either on the surface of the stair tread or beside the tread. Due to their precise edges, we have found that box newels look best on a square starting step.

Handrail Attachment

Join handrail to your 4110 ‘Extreme’ Box Newel using a rail bolt kit. Many configurations allow handrail to mount directly into the newel; however, if your handrail is joining with your box newel on a rake, you may also require a gooseneck handrail attachment.

Cap Attachment

The cap for this box newel is sent unattached to the newel body, allowing easy access for mounting handrail. Then, after handrails are attached, the cap can be secured on-site by applying a bit of wood glue and finishing nails for increased strength.

Splitting Box Newels

In order to maintain a consistent appearance when handrail must terminate into a wall, we offer Split Box Newels. Attach the partial newel to the wall, and your handrail can be secured like normal. If you would like your Box Newel split in half, please select “Split in Half” in the dropdown menu above.
