American Made Primed Box Newels are handmade by our professional craftsmen and primed in our spray booth.
The 4626 is 5″ square box newel as a complement to the larger box newel. The 4626 is a chamfered box newel made by routing the corners of the newel.
This is a very attractive newel for any stairway. The small box newel is perfect for stairways with lots of newels. It is especially useful on landings and at the second floor. The small box newel is a favorite for smaller houses, apartments and places that do not want the crowding that comes with larger box newels. This unit is easy to install for professional stair builders or for those who want to DIY. Whether your stairway goes one flight of stairs or more the box newel fits on the stair tread or beside a tread. We do not recommend curved starting steps for box newels. We prefer the look of a square starting step. With a box newel, handrail attaches to the side of the newel with a rail bolt or other stair hardware. Railings coming into a fluted box newel on the rake should be combined with a gooseneck. Call to see if the box newel you need is hollow or solid for the easiest mounting option for your application. The box newel creates the strongest wooden stair system possible when combined with a larger handrail.
We recommend installation of box newels with our Box Newel Mounting Kit for a strong and reliable staircase.
Box Newels can be split for a charge of $35.00.

Primed items, are primed with a white vinyl primer. Any item can be ordered with a primer by selecting the finish type “Paint Grade” and the finish “Primed”. These parts come ready for a quick light sanding, and then can be painted in the specific color of your choice.
What is the space between top molding and the cap… where handrail would be attached? Also, what is the dimension of the top molding— looks like more than an inch. Thanks
