Shoe rail is used for mounting balusters especially on the rake of a knee wall. This product is available in unplowed, 1 3/4″, 1 1/4″ or 1″ plow to accommodate all balusters. Shoe rail is simple and easy to install and use.
Plowed shoerail is offered in 1”, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ widths.

How should shoerail be fastened to newel posts when shoerail is suspended above floor?? Toenailed??
Hi Nick,
That’s correct. Unfortunately the shoerail is too thin to use our standard railbolt kit. Other people have used our 6000 handrail upside down as a shoerail. In which case you can use the railbolt kit.
How is a baluster connected to a shoerail or handrail that is plowed. Does it need screws or anchors or can it just be glued or epoxied?

If you’re getting a plowed handrail or shoerail, you can use fillet and pin nails to install your balusters. The fillet is installed in the gaps between the balusters to help hold them in place. Use pin nails on both the baluster and the fillet. Use wood glue for additional strength. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Can shoerail be bent to match handrail?
