StairSuppliesTM is a custom manufacturer of stair parts. All of our wood stair parts are made to order, out of solid lumber (no veneer). Use our custom tread tool to order custom parts online.
Total Depth: Refers to the depth of the body of the tread only, does not include any additional length from the return material (returns can be ordered in 1″ – 1 1/2″ length).
Nosing Depth: Refers to the depth of the piece of wood attached to the front of the tread. This will be the distance of the overhang of your tread. Typical is 1 1/4″, please select longer distances at your own risk, as they could be a tripping hazard.
Width: Refers to the width of the body of the tread only, does not include any additional width from the return material (all returns are 1 1/4″ wide). Therefore for a single return tread, you’ll receive a tread that is 1 1/4″ wider than the number you place in the “Width” column (double return will be 2 1/2″ wider).
Body Thickness: Our standard replacement style treads are 1/2″, and are designed to go on top of construction treads. If you’re installing this treads directly on top of stringers we suggest you order them at least 1″ thick, and possibly more depending on the width of your stringers.
Nosing Thickness: This refers to the thickness of the front edge or overhang on the tread. Select up to 2 1/2″ in thickness to match the look of thick treads without the expense.
Nosing & Return Options: If you select “nosing” on either the left or right side, without a return, we’ll simply add the additional thickness to match the Nosing Thickness you selected, and apply the nosing option you selected on the end grain of that side of the tread (it will be a mix of end and straight grain. If you’d like a mitered return (no end grain), please choose that option.
Returns: When you select a return, we miter, and attach another piece of wood to give your tread a more finished look (no visible end grain).
Nosing Style: If your “Nosing Thickness” = 1″, then our standard Bullnose option is available to you. For thicker or thinner treads you can order a tighter radius (for a more modern or craftsman style), by selecting 1/8″ or 1/4″ roundover. Or you can select to have the tread simply cut with square edge, and no roundover.
This tool is designed to allow you to purchase simple custom products. If you require a tread, platform or board that can’t be ordered through this design tool, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’d be happy to assist you.
StairSuppliesTM reserves the right to contact you regarding price correction if there is a glitch in our system that results in a lower price than should be generated. Likewise, if for some reason the amount calculated is significantly higher than it should be, we will contact you regarding a credit. Both of these situations should only occur on extra large items, like thick treads & platforms.
